Learning Path and Talent Gym modes
As weâve covered in this article, there are three main routes for music learners: knowledge (music theory), talents, instrument proficiency. For the first and the second, we have two dedicated sections.
đŒ For music theory learning, Talented has a Learning Path section.Â
Learn step by step with Learning Path. Follow a sequence of lessons where new topics build on earlier ones. Start with the basics or use an available level check to find a suitable starting point. Optional practice branches let you spend more time on selected topics.
Some practice appears in optional branches from Learning Path. These branches let you spend more time on playing tasks or reviewing knowledge. They become available as you progress; completing every optional branch is not required to finish a unit.
This method is designed for a gradual, structured, and easy-to-follow learning experience. However, we encourage you to revisit previous lessons whenever you feel unsureâafter all, repetition is the foundation of effective learning.
Our recommendation is to occasionally return to lessons where youâve earned fewer than three stars. Review your mistakes, strengthen your understanding, and aim to maintain a three-star result across all lessons.
In certain Learning Path lessons, youâll play short melody fragments on a digital piano keyboard. Weâre not trying to teach you how to master an instrumentâthis is simply a way to put what youâve learned into practice. And itâs fun, too.
Donât worry if you donât get it right the first time. It can take a bit of time to get used to the digital keyboard and timing. You can also use the tempo control to slow down the metronome and find a pace that feels comfortable for practicing and completing the lesson.
If youâre not starting from scratch, the app offers a short assessment that will put you further along the Learning Path, based on your current level.
đŻ To develop your core musical skills, we offer a dedicated section called Talent Gym.
Focus your practice in Talent Gym. Work on melodies, intervals, chords, rhythm or sight-reading. Talent Gym becomes available through in-app unlocks, and its exercises progress through Steps.
The approach in Talent Gym is different, and the name reflects it. At some point, in each category, you will reach a Step that you cannot pass on the first try. This is completely normalâin fact, this is where real progress begins. The key method in Talent Gym is focused, consistent repetition. It doesnât matter how many attempts it takes to pass a Step. What matters is that when you do pass it, your skill has genuinely improved.
For example, completing all Steps in intervals or melodies may take months of daily practice. But the result is worth it â youâll develop the ability to play by ear, sing more accurately, and feel music on a deeper level.
Talent Gym is your daily workout. Short, focused exercises on chords, sight reading, rhythm, intervals, and melodies, built separately for maximum results. Talent Gym organises focused practice into Steps within melodies, intervals, chords, rhythm and sight-reading. Track your exercise results and revisit difficult Steps. Talent Tree serves a different purpose: it unlocks features in the app rather than certifying musical proficiency.
