Learning Path and Talent Gym modes

Learning Path and Talent Gym modes

As we’ve covered in this article, there are three main routes for music learners: knowledge (music theory), talents, instrument proficiency. For the first and the second, we have two dedicated sections.

đŸŽŒ For music theory learning, Talented has a Learning Path section.

In this section, you can learn musical notes from scratch, build a strong foundation, and explore some more advanced areas of music theory. As the name suggests, the Learning Path guides you step by step, moving through one lesson at a time.

This method is designed for a gradual, structured, and easy-to-follow learning experience. However, we encourage you to revisit previous lessons whenever you feel unsure—after all, repetition is the foundation of effective learning.

Our recommendation is to occasionally return to lessons where you’ve earned fewer than three stars. Review your mistakes, strengthen your understanding, and aim to maintain a three-star result across all lessons.

In almost every Learning Path lesson, you’ll play short melody fragments on a digital piano keyboard. We’re not trying to teach you how to master an instrument—this is simply a way to put what you’ve learned into practice. And it’s fun, too.

Don’t worry if you don’t get it right the first time. It can take a bit of time to get used to the digital keyboard and timing. You can also use the tempo control to slow down the metronome and find a pace that feels comfortable for practicing and completing the lesson.

If you’re not starting from scratch, the app offers a short assessment that will put you further along the Learning Path, based on your current level.

🎯 To develop your core musical skills, we offer a dedicated section called Talent Gym.

Talent Gym is divided into five categories that can, and should, be developed in sync. Three of them focus on ear training: melodies, intervals, and chords. There is also a category for rhythm, and another for improving your ability to read sheet music more quickly.

The approach in Talent Gym is different, and the name reflects it. At some point, in each category, you will reach a Step that you cannot pass on the first try. This is completely normal—in fact, this is where real progress begins. The key method in Talent Gym is focused, consistent repetition. It doesn’t matter how many attempts it takes to pass a Step. What matters is that when you do pass it, your skill has genuinely improved.

For example, completing all Steps in intervals or melodies may take months of daily practice. But the result is worth it — you’ll develop the ability to play by ear, sing more accurately, and feel music on a deeper level.

There is no faster or easier way to build these foundational skills than Talent Gym. The key is not to focus on passing Steps, but on developing the skill itself. As your ability improves, the Steps that once felt impossible will become easy and repeatable without mistakes.

Talent Gym is your daily workout. Short, focused exercises on chords, sight reading, rhythm, intervals, and melodies, built separately for maximum results. Your progress in Talent Gym is shown in your Talent Tree. You can literally see how your musical level grows. We don’t just teach, we develop your talent by making learning music easier and more engaging.
